Something for everyone! In the afternoon we will enjoy a 4X4 off-road drive to Diablo Canyon. A short hike at the canyon is available for the actives. Ride to Diablo Canyon in one of our fun off-road vehicles. Enjoy New Mexico’s wide-open arroyos and narrow dirt trails. Drift in the sandy dry washes, experience our high desert plants and wildlife, and delight in the spectacular views. This remote canyon is great fun for outdoor enthusiasts, especially rock climbers and hikers. Furthermore, history buffs can trace the “Chili Line”, a narrow-gauge railroad that connected Santa Fe to Antonito from 1887 to 1941. Learn about El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro, the historic trail that linked Mexico City to the Pueblo of Ohkay Owingeh. The trail, near Diablo Canyon, follows a mostly forgotten original route taken by Don Juan Oñate’s caravan in 1598. Oñate led the first group of settlers from Mexico City to extend Spain’s reach into the New World.
