October 23– Arrive Palm Springs and transfer to Ritz Carlton – Rancho Mirage. Enjoy the pool, lunch, or spa in the afternoon. This evening we will get together to meet each other and have a glass of wine or cocktail at the hotel. Dinner on your own at the hotel, Rancho Mirage or Palm Springs which is 12 miles away.
October 24 – Breakfast at the hotel each morning. After breakfast we will be transferred to Joshua Tree National Park for a jeep tour of this iconic National Park. “Two distinct desert ecosystems, the Mojave and the Colorado, come together in Joshua Tree National Park. A fascinating variety of plants and animals make their homes in a land sculpted by strong winds and occasional torrents of rain. Dark night skies, a rich cultural history, and surreal geologic features add to the wonder of this vast wilderness in southern California”.
After our morning tour we will return to the hotel and then you may enjoy an optional hike or visit some of the other areas of Rancho Mirage. Shopping will be a good activity this afternoon in Rancho Mirage.

October 25 – Our morning will begin with Trevor O’Donnell well known in Palm Springs for his excellent architectural tour. We will travel via mini-coach and will not go into any of the homes but hear the accounts of the architectural designs.
This afternoon after lunch we will meet at the Palm Springs Art Museum for a docent guided tour of the museum and then walk a short way for a non-guided visit to the Design Center.
Palm Springs free time following the Design Center and back to the hotel.

October 26 – This morning we will make our way to the jeep tours again and the San Andreas Fault. “Extraordinary scenery abounds as your Big Red Jeep winds its way through the labyrinth of geological cuts and canyons of the San Andreas Fault Zone as your naturalist guide entertains you with stories about the plants, animals, geology, seismology and history of the California desert”. After this tour, hiking can be arranged for those interested, or some hotel spa or pool time, or other optional activity. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is on my list. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway—the world’s largest rotating tram car—travels over two-and-one-half miles along the breathtaking cliffs of Chino Canyon, transporting riders to the pristine wilderness of the Mt. San Jacinto State Park. During your approximately ten-minute journey, tram cars rotate slowly, offering picturesque and spectacular vistas of the valley floor below. Once you reach the Mountain Station—elevation 8,516 feet—enjoy two restaurants, observation decks, natural history museum, two documentary theaters, gift shop and over 50 miles of hiking trails.
Tonight, we will get together for dinner and plan our next trip together.
